Cheers to a new journey

So here it is! The launch of a new company. A black owned, woman owned company. Right now I'm acting as a single party (barring my sister -- who's helping me with the marketing). To be completely honest, I'm scared. But I'm also excited! This company is symbolic of so much! But before I get started, let me introduce myself. And my company. My name is Aarenne Felice Milton. I was born in Richmond, Virginia to a single mother who worked as hard as she could (with the help of my grandmother) to provide a life where my sister and I could not only survive, but also thrive. And oh, have we! Here's the thing, I've been afforded so many amazing opportunities and experiences that have shaped the woman I am today. Understanding that so many people around me have actually shaped the woman I am, how I operate, and the goals I have has pushed me to create a space for others to do the same. One in A Million Publishing, LLC is a publishing company aimed at creating, publishing, and supporting the work of young artists of color. Those whose voices cannot, and will not, be stifled. But we're not just that. We're a company steeped in community. We are changemakers, aiming to give back to the communities that have given so much to us. They've shaped us and given us so much. My goal, our goal, is to provide scholarships to high schoolers ready to go into their next chapter (whether that's college or a trade), develop a book program where students can receive free books, set up a community fridge, launch a daily "happy hour" where 10 families will have access to free, nutritious and delicious food, and so much more. Now, we can't actually come right out the gate doing all of these things. We have to build! So, within the next 5 years we will build and start these programs.

That's all nice. But what can you expect from us now??

For now, you can expect weekly blogs documenting our progress. We will be publishing our first book this fall. You can also expect a weekly book review challenge. By August, 2022, I will publish 52 book reviews to be published EVERY Friday. That's right. EVERY FRIDAY. And we're launching a book club. Details will be provided in our next blog.
